Robert Canaga Gallery Charities Lupus affects 1 out of every 185 Americans. Although lupus can occur at any age, and in either
sex, 90% of people with lupus are women between the ages of 15-44. Lupus is more prevalent in African Americans, Hispanics, Asians and Native Americans. The cause of lupus is
not fully understood. There is no cure. Some treatments can cause serious complications and side effects from long-term use. Betweem 10% - 15% of patients die prematurely from complications of the disease.
Current federal funding for lupus research is well below that of other diseases of similar severity and number of people affected and insufficient to fund the scientific opportunities now awaiting
study. More research is needed to identify a cause, develop safer and more effective treatments, and ultimately, find a cure for lupus. Fanconi Anemia Research Fund, Inc, is a nonprofit corporation established in 1989. The
purpose of the corporation is to assist Fanconi Anemia (FA) scientific research efforts. The Fund offers family services through the Fanconi Anemia Family Support Group and a biannual
newsletter, an annual Family Symposium is conducted, which focuses on providing families and friends with informaiton on diagnosis, treatment, and research efforts. FA is an autosomal
recessive genetic disorder which usually results in severe bone marrow failure. Since its inception, the FA Fund has supported researchers who have identified at least eight
FA genes, and cloned genes accounting for more than 80% of the known cases of FA. Using gene therapy, researchers supported by the FA Fund have cured the blood disorder in mice.
Gene therapy trials for FA patients are in preparation in a number of laboratories, all of which maintain close ties to the FA Fund. New bone marrow transplantation protocols are being
tested, and new research into the function of the proteins encoded by the FA genes is advancing rapidly. The Komen Foundation's mission is to eradicate breast cancer through the advancement of research, education, screening, and treatment. The Oregon & SW Washington Washington

RSD is a chronic pain disorder involving the sympathetic nervous system. It usually is the result
of an injury or trauma, but can also be a complication of surgery, infection, casting or splinting and myocardial infarction (heart attack). The trauma sets off the body's mechanism for pain
recognition, but then the "normal system of pain perception" begins to misfire in its neural response, and an abnormal cycle of intractable pain begins. As RSD progresses, the abnormal pain of RSDSA-CA is a statewide non-profit corporation comprised of individuals dedicated to
